Dear parents:
Happy New Year! Just a few things that I want to share with you:
1. The students will be having a weekly homework. Every week they need to watch 30 minutes of any Spanish program. They can use captions in English. The purpose for this homework is to start “training” their ear, get them use to the sounds in Spanish. I will not recommend them to watch soap opera…they will not learn anything with that kind of show….too much drama in there..:D. They will have a folder, where they will write the date they watched the show, channel , the title of the program and one of the parents signature. Every week they will receive 20 points if they turn in the following week their completed homework. They can also watch movies and use the internet for this homework.
Grades 3rd, to 5th., will turn in homework following Tuesday of every week.
Grades 6 to 8th. grade will turn in homework every Wednesday . If the student is absent the day of turning in hw, in order to earn the points, I need a parent or doctors excuse.
*HOMEWORK WILL START TUESDAY January 17th, 2012.If you have any questions, please contact me .
2. I still have students without the supplies that they need for my class:
*pencils (NO PENS ALLOWED)
* crayons, markers or colored pencils
* scissors and glue
Please, make sure your child bring the supplies for my class.
2. For grades k, 1 and 2:
They will have a folder . I will keep it in my classroom. When a theme is finished, I will send the papers home.
This is for ALL GRADES (K to 8): The students will have homework EVERY WEEK! That homework will be included in the folder provided for the 30 minute Spanish Program homework. The homework is to reinforce what the students are learning that week in class. The homework will be graded. The points will vary depending of the homework.
3. The Spanish notebook is another grade. Students will earn points for classwork completed.( Do not apply for k, 1 and 2 grade)
4.Tests will be given right after the theme of that week is completed.I will send with the students a study guide for the test.( Do not apply for K, 1 and 2 grade)
5. Students will have “surprise quizzes” as practice and to assure that they are studying at home.They will be graded. (Do not apply for k, 1 and 2 grade)
If you any questions or concerns, please contact me or make an appointment .I will be happy to help you!
