From the Language Arts Corner: We are reading Mayday! Mayday! and letter Xx spelled and final sound in a word (/ks/); cause/effect; Captital letters and question marks in a question sentence; correcting sentences and rewriting them; continuing color words: yellow, blue, green (review blending sounds for red)

From the Math Corner: Finishing up subtraction and taking a cumulative assessment on addition and subtraction

From the Religion Corner: Beginning our chapter on Lent; Acrostic poem using the letters from Lent

 ~If you are interested in volunteering in the school you must complete the Protecting God’s Children Class, and you must be fingerprinted.

4th grade is sponsoring a Lenten Food Drive–each week during Lent they will collect different items.  This week is FRUIT.  Please donate any nonperishable fruit items such as canned fruit, juice, or dried fruit.  Send it in with your child to our classroom. Thank you!!

SIGHT WORDS

There are some words that we cannot sound out.  We call these words sight words because we learn to recognize them by sight.  Each week we will be focusing on different sight words.  Our sight words this week are:

Keep working on your sight word lists! Many students are already up to List 7!! Good Job!!  Please keep these lists in your child’s folder.  After they have mastered each list I will send the next one home.  PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!
