Library

With hundreds of books lining its walls and shelves, the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton library serves as a sanctuary of study for its students. It’s where they can get information related to their homework and studies, research their work and projects, and learn about the world around them.

Moreover, kids in preschool through the eighth grade visit the library once a week. They are able to check out books, learn about recent best-sellers, and discover new subjects of interest. The library’s vast collection of fiction, non-fiction, and research books also provides an opportunity for each child to explore their area of interest. There are also encyclopedias, age-appropriate periodicals, houses computers and a collection of children’s VHS and DVDs for students to enjoy. These visits are a much anticipated part of the week for the students.

In addition to finding a new favorite book or author, the students are also taught important library skills they’ll use for the rest of their learning lives. It’s where they learn about the Dewey decimal system and the important process of how books, authors, and other information are classified in the library.

And finally, there are “book fairs” where students have the opportunity to buy new books and also contribute to the purchase of new books and reference materials for the library.

The library is always looking for new and interesting books and other reference materials for its students. If you’d like to consider a financial donation to purchase more of these items for the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton library, please contact our principal, Mr. John Gulley.
